Apple today unveiled a preview of iOS 16. It offers the biggest update in the lock screen, new sharing, communication, and intelligence features. That offers together to change the way users experience the iPhone. iOS 16 introduces iCloud’s shared photo library for seamless sharing of a collection of photos with family. Messages and Mail updates will help users stay in touch with ease, and powerful enhancements to Live Text and Visual Look Up.

A Personalized Lock Screen Experience

The lock screen becomes more personal, beautiful and useful with iOS 16. With a new multi-layered effect, photo subjects placed in front of the time on the lock screen, creates a sense of depth. Users can also change the appearance of the date and time with expressive type styles and color options.

A new lock screen gallery features a range of inspiration options. It includes Apple’s collections, Pride and Unity to celebrate special cultural moments. Cultural moments of a weather wallpaper to see live weather conditions as they change throughout the day; and an astronomy wallpaper for views of the Earth, moon, and solar system. Users can also create lock screens using their favorite emojis or color combinations. With many lock screens, users can switch between their favorites with the swipe of a finger.

Live Activities is a new feature that helps users stay on top of things happening in real time. Live activities include sports games, workout, rideshare, or food delivery order, from the lock screen.

Notifications have been redesigned to stack from the bottom, ensuring users have a clear view of their custom lock screen.

Find Balance with Focus

Focus is more powerful, easier to set up, and now connects to the lock screen. It offers users a way to link a lock screen background and widgets to a particular Focus. To activate a Focus, users can swipe to the corresponding lock screen. With Focus filters, apps like Calendar, Mail, Messages, and Safari can only display content that is relevant to a user’s Focus. It helps them find a better balance.

One Place for Family Photos with iCloud Shared Photo Library

iCloud Shared Photo Library gives families a new way to share photos with a separate iCloud library. Way, where up to six users can collaborate, contribute and enjoy. Users can choose to share existing photos from their libraries or share them based on a start date or the people in the photos. A user can also choose to send photos to the shared library automatically using a new switch in the Camera app. Users will receive smart suggestions for sharing a photo that includes participants in the Shared Photo Library.

Updates to Messages

Users can edit or recover recently sent messages and recently deleted messages. They can mark conversations as unread so they can return to them later. SharePlay will reach Messages, allowing you to enjoy synchronized content like movies or songs. Shareplay also shares playback controls while chatting in Messages.

New Tools for Mail

Users can now schedule emails in advance and are even given a moment to cancel the delivery of a message before it reaches a recipient’s inbox. Mail detects if the user forgot to include an important part of their message, such as an attachment. Users also have the option to reappear a message at any date and time with Remind Later. Users track suggestions-remind users to follow up on an email if they haven’t received a response. Mail also includes the largest search review and uses state-of-the-art techniques to deliver more relevant, accurate, and comprehensive results. Users see recent emails, contacts, documents, and links the moment they start searching for emails.
